announces a
Concerto
Competition
which is open
to piano, strings
and winds.

THE PRELIMINARIES
By submission of a DVD, CD or Tape and must be recorded with an accompanist. All recordings and application are due January 30, 2010. Recording material will not be returned. Semi-
finalists will be notified by mail by February 15.

THE SEMIFINALS
Friday, March 5, 2010
The chosen Semifinalists, will compete with an accompanist on Friday March 5, 2010 at Duquesne University. You will be notified by mail regarding the time of the audition. Up to six contestants will be chosen for the final round.

THE FINALS
Saturday, April 10, 2010.
The Finalists will perform with the Duquesne University Symphony Orchestra under the baton of renowned maestro Sidney Harth. One winner will be chosen to perform during the 2010/11 Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra season in an education or outreach concert. The scheduling for the performance and the repertory will be determined by the PSO management.

APPLICATION FEE: $50

PRIZES
First prize: $1000
Underwritten by Symphony North
Finalists will receive $100 each

Age Category and Requirements

  • 18 years and under
  • Must not have graduated from high school.
  • Memorization is required
  • Required Piece: One movement from standard concerto repertory. Double or triple concerti are allowed
  • Accompanist required
  • Audition time: 10 minutes
  • Registration fee is not refundable
